‘Futuro’ is an independent publication, with photographs by the talented Rody Oliveira. It records queer life on the outskirts of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In this publication, the challenge was to organize the images in a way that would feel like walking through the hills, beaches and streets of the neighborhood where the photos were taken. The name, future in portuguese, is a reference to Afrofuturism: a cultural aesthetic, philosophy of science, history and art that combines elements of science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, African art and African diaspora art.
